Australian Border Force – Key Trade Update

The Australia–UAE Comprehensive Economic Partnership Agreement (CEPA) has taken effect from 1st October 2025, granting duty-free or reduced tariff access for eligible UAE-origin goods.
From this date, eligible UAE-origin goods will enjoy preferential or duty-free access into Australia, enhancing trade between the two nations. Most goods will enter duty-free, while excise-equivalent items will remain under existing tariff structures. Detailed guidance on rules of origin and applicable duty rates are available on the ABF CEPA webpage.

West Gate Tunnel Project

The West Gate Tunnel will soon deliver a second river crossing and improved access to the Port of Melbourne and western industrial areas. There will also be 24/7 no-truck zones introduced in Melbourne’s inner west, directing freight vehicles into the new tunnel.  As the project is nearing completion, it is important that you are aware that new tolls will apply immediately to all heavy vehicles using the tunnel and surrounding areas once opened. ICAL will continue monitoring the opening and be in touch with our affected customers with the toll pricing as soon as available.
